Snakes & Squirrels

1. There's a guy in a sleeping bag with a bunch of snakes on Rattlesnake Republic. These people are just morons.
2. We've decided to get a Dyson. They supposedly sell refurbished ones at Big Lots for $200 but we checked today and they didn't have them. Costco and Overstock.com have them for $300. Any other places have them cheaper??
3. I am so sick of hot weather. And we'll have it for another month unfortunately. Ugh.
4. I think we had a squirrel in our garage last night.
5. Watching Pride and Prejudice. Colin Firth time.

Disney Magic

1. We went to Disneyland and it was not very crowded. Do you know why? It was 110 degrees.
2. The Haunted Mansion was decorated like the Nightmare Before Christmas but the wait was 50 minutes so we didn't go. :( But Pirates was only a 5 minute wait so that was cool.
3. Mina slept through everything. Best baby ever.
4. On the way out of the park Bill saw Ginnifer Goodwin.
5. My nephew won Homecoming King tonight!

School woes

1. Man, 4th grade homework stresses me out and it's not even mine! I hate to see that Holden missed work because it feels like these kids are expected to be responsible for way too much on their own this early in school. It seems really disorganized to me and no matter how hard I try to help him organize and keep track of his work things continue to be missed. I hope he gets the hang of it and doesn't feel too frustrated. It sure as hell frustrates me! And it's not even difficult material. It's just a matter of knowing what assignments are due when. Irritating! I like to give my kids a chance to handle some things on their own to some extent so they are held accountable for themselves. But at some point I feel like I need to step in and call the teacher. Also is it normal for a 4th grader to spend 1-2 1/2 hours a night on homework (busywork)?? It makes me really want to homeschool Holden so he's enjoying learning instead of working towards end of year testing as the ultimate goal. That's not what school is about and I'm pretty frustrated by it.
2. On another note I'm really happy with the way Luc's teacher handles everything and the 2nd grade workload.
3. I got the pixie cut I wanted today. Allison did such an awesome job. Looks even better than I expected. She's a hair genius.
4. I ate way too many cookies today.
5. We're going to Disneyland tomorrow. Wish us luck!

I like Britney?

1. Crossing my fingers that my best friend Jennie is actually going to come visit me next weekend.
2. Getting my haircut tomorrow I think. Ginnifer Goodwin pixie style. I just keep getting shorter and shorter. My next move is to grow it out long and then shave one side. Seriously. Maybe when I turn 40.
3. We watched the X Factor and I'm surprised by how good that show is. And I've also discovered that I love Britney Spears.
4. I finished all the pieces for my last afghan but now I'm too lazy to sew them together. So I started a new one that has 143 squares. I'm a little more than halfway through that one.
5. Let me see if I can convince Bill to rub my feet before I go to bed.

I want to move to Portishead.

1. There's another car (besides ours) in our neighborhood that has an Obama sticker on it. You have no idea how excited I am. Lots of Republicans in this town.
2. Watching House Hunters International makes me realize how much I love how British people say "property" and "garage". I also think I need to move to Portishead. Instead of this whiny crybaby woman who doesn't want to leave Denver and doesn't like the houses that are "too English" and dangerous for her children. This one house is 300 years old! It has a well that has bars and glass covering the top. But somehow she's afraid her kids will fall into it and then magically melt through the bars with mere inches separating each one. So they pick the ugliest most western house instead. Always.
3. Lucas was asked to write about his favorite movie for school. You'd think this would be easy for a film buff like him. But I should've known it's too much pressure for him to even choose just one and then write the PERFECT thing. Poor nerd. He picked Harry Potter but 5 sentences isn't enough to say what he wants to say.
4. Bill and I have been watching Chopped a lot lately. And now I'm thinking it'd be fun to let the kids pick 4 ingredients for us and have us battle it out!
5. Some of my favorite people in the world are ones I've never even met in person. Which is great when we're all so active online. But sucks when I want to hang out with you guys in person.

David Tennant, I love you.

1. 4th grade homework + Holden = furious combination!!!
2. Two friends have told me they were pregnant before announcing to everyone. One just told everyone today. One down, one to go. Sending special thoughts and good vibes to the others trying to get knocked up soon too. Yay babies!
3. Ash is obsessed with commercials. So far he wants a pillow pet, a Swiffer and insurance.
4. I found 7 fish fillets in my box of Gorton's today. There were supposed to be 6. SCORE!
5. Watched Decoy Bride with David Tennant. It doesn't flow like your typical cookie cutter Hollywood romcom which I actually liked. It was funny and sweet. And what's not to love about David Tennant.

Why isn't it fall yet?

1. Blazing through this new afghan. I think it'll look nice on the guest bed or thrown over one of our sofas/chairs. I really just wanted to use up my stash of yarn that I don't like anymore but the color combos are turning out really cool.
2. I watched crap reality TV all day. I really should watch better stuff when I have the chance.
3. I wish there was a gum you could chew all the time that was just as good as brushing your teeth. I hate dirty teeth and I hate brushing my teeth.
4. I think we're going to Disneyland on Friday. Hopefully it's not going to be that hot by the time we get there after school.
5. The only thing I don't like about CA weather is that it's hot during the beat months and fall doesn't happen until November.
